Emergency Connectivity Fund

Congress directed the FCC to promulgate rules providing for the distribution of funding from the Emergency Connectivity Fund to eligible schools and libraries for the purchase of eligible equipment and advanced telecommunications and information services for use by students, school staff, and library patrons at locations other than a school or library.  The FCC now seeks comment on how to administer the Fund and what rules should govern the Fund, including questions on eligible schools & libraries, eligible equipment, service locations, eligible uses of the Fund, support amounts, the application process, the prioritization of funding, the reimbursement process, how to treat eligible equipment after the emergency period, and protections for waste, fraud, and abuse.


Comments are due April 5, replies are due April 23.  The FCC has 60 days from the date of enactment to issue rules.
